Clara Kim & Nombulelo Yende (sopranos) & Cláudia Ribas (mezzo-soprano)
Recital
A treat for Advent - three singers who enjoy close ties with the company have come up with a contemplative evening of operatic arias and Christmassy music: the south Korean soprano CLARA KIM was a member of our Opera Studio from 2022 - 2024, thrilling audiences with Pamina and the Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte. Later this season you can hear her as a Flowermaiden and Oberto in new productions of Wagner's Parsifal and Handel's Alcina. NOMBULELO YENDE, who left the Opera Studio to join the Ensemble this season enjoyed great success here with her first Tatianas in Eugene Onegin. You can hear her in coming months in the title role of Tchaikovsky's The Sorceress and Countess Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro - both role debuts. They are joined by mezzo-soprano CLÁUDIA RIBAS, a member of the Opera Studio stepping in at short notice for Iurii Iushkevich. She enjoyed great success last season singing Cornelia in Giulio Cesare in Egitto and Armindo in the recent new production of Handel's Partenope. She practically swept the board at this year's 's-Hertogenbosch International Vocal Competition.
They and the pianist Mariusz Kłubczuk's programme includes baroque music, Lieder, operatic arias and Lieder from parts of the world you might never have heard before.
