Tianji Lin

The lyric tenor Tianji Lin, a member of Oper Frankfurt's Opera Studio until 2019/20, returned as a guest to sing a Servant in Capriccio and an Apprentice (a role he sang in Bayreuth 2017- 2021 and at the Staatstheater in Wiesbaden, where he sang in Wiemann's Babylon and returned for Kedril (From the House of the Dead), in our recent new Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and Adolfo of Valladolid in this new production of Offenbach's The Bandits. His first role for the company was 1st Revolutionary in Křenek's Das geheime Königreich / The Secret Kingdom which was followed by a shepherd in a new production of Tristan und Isolde and Sir Bruno Roberton in Bellini's Il puritani. The corona situation prevented him from singing 1st Heiduck in Henze's Der Prinz von Homburg. This young Chinese artist studied singing at Beijing Normal University, the University for Music and the Performing Arts in Stuttgart and spent two years at the August Everding Theaterakademie in Munich, with Julian Prégardien. He was an Apprentice in the new Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Bayreuth Festival from 2017 – 2019. Tianji Lin took part in an Akademie Produktion of Hasse's Artaserse at the Markgräfliche Opera House in Bayreuth and, whilst still a student, sang Ferrando (Così fan tutte) at the Prinzregententheater, the title role in Haydn's Orlando Paladino and Don José (Carmen) at the Theaterakademie and Theater Ingolstadt. Roles he has studied include Mozart's Don Ottavio, Belmonte and Tamino, Elvino (La sonnambula), Arturo (I puritani), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Alfredo (La traviata), Gounod's Faust, Hoffmann (The Tales of Hoffmann) and Rodolfo (La Bohème). He won 1st prize at the 2010 Roma Opera Competition.
