Yoriko Muto
Violin
Yoriko Muto was born in Tokyo. She appeared in concert with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra when she was 11 years old after winning 1st Prize at Japan's Student Music Competition. Three years later she moved to Germany, studying with Prof. Rainer Kussmaul from the University for Music in Freiburg, which she joined when she was 16. She then went to the Hanns Eisler University for Music in Berlin to work with Saschko Gawriloff. She gained valuable experience taking part in masterclasses run by people including Zakhar Bron, Igor Ozim and Gérard Poulet and won prizes at competitions including the Sendai International Music Competition and Louis Spohr International Competition for young violinists. She has appeared on television and radio and as soloist with orchestras including the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Philharmonic and German Symphony Orchestra Berlin. She was under contract to the Sächsische Staatskapelle in Dresden from 2014 – 2016, the year she joined the first violins at the Frankfurt Opern- und Museumsorchester. She loves listening to music that speaks to her. Her life's motto: »Go your own way!«
