Fred Günther

Fred Günther was born in Kiel in 1968 and was interested in music from a young age, gaining early experience in the school choir and then as a boy chorister in Kiel. He was 10 years old when he had his first violin lesson, moving to the viola when he was fourteen. He studied at the University for Arts in Berlin with Prof. Bruno Giuranna and Wilfried Strehle and was awarded the Berlin Philharmonic Orchester's Karajan Foundation scholarship for their Orchester Academy in 1991. Whilst still a student Fred Günther performed with Musica Antiqua Cologne and other ensembles for early music. He has been a member of the violas at the Frankfurt Opern- und Museumsorchester since 1995.
