Thomas Guggeis became General Music Director of Oper Frankfurt and the Frankfurt Opern & Museumsorchester at the beginning of the 2023/24 season.
They were voted »Orchestra of the Year« by critics of Opernwelt magazine before, in 1995 and three years running – 2009, 2010 & 2011.
It's more than 200 year history makes our orchestra one of the most rich in tradition of all German groups of musicians (more background info: here).
The Frankfurt Opern and Museumsorchester's wide and varied repertoire encompasses almost all important operatic and symphonic works from the baroque to experimental contemporary music. Musicians from the orchestra also perform their own series of chamber music concerts, which take place in the opera house's Holz Foyer and Bockenheimer Depot (see Chamber Music).
