We're oPERA hOUSE OF THE yEAR yet again!

»Opernwelt« magazine has just voted Oper Frankfurt »Opera House of the Year« again, eight times altogether, and now a hat trick! With a good nose for dramaturgically astute, innovative and varied programming the opera house on the Main secured its place in the sun, beating off competition from Strasbourg (Opéra national du Rhin), Ulm and Dortmund.

And what a nose! If you look at some of the other categories 43 critics voted on in Opernwelt's survey for last season they include John Osborn, who was voted Singer of the Year«, predominantly for his portrayal of Éléazar in Frankfurt's production of La Juive, Lydia Steier, voted ‘Director of the Year’ for the first time, not least for her daring production of Aida in Frankfurt and Matthew Wild's Frankfurt Tannhäuser, which shares the ‘Performance of the Year’ title with Lorenzo Fiorini's insightful reading of Moses and Aron in Bonn.

If that wasn't enough: our chorus has pulled off a hat trick too! Chorus of the Year 2022, 2023 AND 2024!

On top of that: after votes were recounted it transpires that the Frankfurt Opern and Museumsorchester under our GMD Thomas Guggeis (for works including Ligeti's Le Grand Macabretied with the Bayerische Staatsorchester in Munich so are »Orchestra of the Year« too!
