Costume designer Irina Spreckelmeyer, much sought-after for opera, theatre and film, has enjoyed a close working relationship with the director Nadja Loschky since 2018. Now she's back in Frankfurt, where they collaborated on a wonderful new Giulio Cesare in Eggito last season, for this new production of Berg's Lulu. Other productions have included Jakob Lenz, Aida and Zazà at Theater Bielefeld, Rusalka and The Birds at Cologne Opera, Weinberg's The (female) Passenger at Oper Graz and the Staatstheater in Mainz (nominated for a 2022 Austrian Music Theatre prize for best set and costumes), Alice in Wonderland at Zurich Opera and Hamlet at the Komische Oper Berlin. She also worked with the director Wolfgang Nägele on Il trittico at the Staatstheater in Saarbrücken, Eötvös’ Paradise Reloaded at Theater Bielefeld and Frank Martin's Le vin herbé at the Staatsoper in Hannover. She designed the costumes for Andreas Kriegenburg's 2017 production of Three Days in the Country at Schauspiel Frankfurt. She worked regularly with Kriegenburg and the costume designer Andrea Schraad from 2013-2017. She studied costume design at Hannover university and the University of Arts in Berlin.
