The costume designer Doey Lüthi is back at Oper Frankfurt, where she enjoyed great success with unforgettable productions of Olga Neuwirth's Lost Highway (director: Yuval Sharon), Handel's Tamerlano, Cimarosa's L'italiana in Londra and Madame Butterfly (all directed by R.B. Schlather) for his new production of Verdi's Macbeth. Recent engagements have included Martinů's The Greek Passion at Opera North in Leeds, Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno at the Royal Opera in Copenhagen and Eötvös’ Tri sestry / Three Sisters in Yekaterinburg. Other productions have taken her to English National Opera in London, Glimmerglass Opera, Den Norske Opera in Oslo, the Opéra national de Bordeaux, Theater an der Wien, Theater Basel, Nationaltheater in Mannheim and the Deutsche Oper and Staatsoper in Berlin. She recently designed costumes for Cavalli's La Calisto at La Scala Milan (which was awarded the 2021 Premio Abbiati for »Best Costume Design«) She also designed costumes for Braunfels’ Die Vögel / The Birds and a Janáček / de Falla Diary of One who Disappeared / El amor brujo double bill at the Opéra national du Rhin. She studed set and costume design at New York University and works with directors including Daniel Fish, Michael Keegan-Dolan, Christopher Alden, Elina Finkel, Ted Huffman and Sir David McVicar.
