Gal Fefferman
Dancer / Choreographer
Gal Fefferman was born in Israel and studied contemporary dance at Frankfurt’s University for Music and the Performing Arts. She's been working as a choreographer since 2017 with people including the music director Nicolai Bernstein and Frankfurt’s Chamber Philharmonic; their joint project about Gershwin’s An American in Paris was seen on stage for the first time at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt in 2021. She and her collective GOSSIPS brought ACHSCHAV into being – an evening of dance – in Frankfurt’s LAB in 2022. This was followed by HUNGRY, a documentary dance film project in studioNAXOS, where her 2021 dance film HINENI was premiered, which led to her being invited to Hessen’s 2021 Theater Tagen (days - a big honour) and the 2022 MADE Festival. She works regularly as a dancer and performer with the Frankfurt company Dorfproduct, and on various opera productions, with people including Claus Guth and Ramses Sigl (most recently at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence). She has danced in many productions at Oper Frankfurt over the years, including Der Rosenkavalier, Les Troyens, Anna Toll, The Merry Widow and Dialogue des Carmelites and played a young woman in From the House of the Dead. Now she's back in Frankfurt, where she recently choreographed a new production of Tchaikovsky's The Sorceress, danced in a new Elektra, worked with Tilmann Köhler on new productions of Le nozze di Figaro and Zemlinsky's George the Dreamer and Dorothea Kirschbaum on the first ever staged performances in Frankfurt of Wolfgang Fortner's Don Perlimplín's Love for Belisa in his Garden, to work on R.B. Schlather's new production of Macbeth.
