Bianca Tognocchi sang Gilda in Rigoletto at Oper Frankfurt in 2019/20 before joining the Ensemble in 2020/21, since when she has sung Norina, Olga Sukarew and Madame Brillante in new productions of Donizetti's Don Pasquale, Giordano's Fedora and Cimarosa's L'italiana in Londra (get the DVD!), Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Despina in Così fan tutte, Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Clorinda in La Cenerentola, an Italian Singer in Capriccio, Mary in a wonderful production of Schreker's Der ferne Klang / The Elusive Sound (get the CD!) and the Landlady / Crested Fowl in The Cunning Little Vixen. During the 2024/25 season you can hear her as Gilda in Rigoletto, in the title role of Bianca e Falliero and Beauté in a new production of Albéric Magnard's Guercœur. In the autumn of 2024 she sings also Gilda at theatres in Bergamo, Como, Brescia and Cremano. Recent guest engagements have included Gasparina in Wolf-Ferrari's Il campiello at the Verona Teatro Filarmonica / Arena di Verona, Musetta in La bohème at the Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari, Leila in a concert performance of Bizet's Les Pecheurs du Perle and Mahler 4 in the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid. She also sang in Rheinhold Glière's and Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. She's a regular guest at the Tirol Festival in Erl, where she sang the Nightingale in Braunfels’The Birds, Jemmy in Rossini's Guillaume Tell and Amina in Bellini's La sonnambula. Other engagements have taken Bianca Tognocchi to places including the Opéra national de Lorraine in Nancy, La Scala Milan, the Teatro Regio in Turin and Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, the Opéra de Chambre de Genève and Ravenna Festival. During her time with Oper Leipzig she sang the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Frasquita (Carmen), Forest Bird (Siegfried), Esmeralda (The Bartered Bride) and Gilda, a role she also sang at Malmö Opera in 2018. She recently sang Lucia at the Staatstheater in Darmstadt and Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf. She studied at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan.
