Theo Lebow has enjoyed success with many roles at Oper Frankfurt since joining the Ensemble, including Jago and, last season, the title role, in Rossini's Otello, Monostatos (Die Zauberflöte), Kaherdin (Frank Martin's Le vin herbé), Lanciotto (Mercadante's Francesca da Rimini) and Contareno (Rossini's Bianca e Falliero) - two roles he sang at the Tirol Festival in Erl. During the 2024/25 season you can hear him as the Painter / Punter in a new production of Berg's Lulu, Arv in Nielsen's Masquerade, the Teacher / 1st Foreman in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, and he repeats his wonderful portrayal of Rossini's Contareno. Other roles for the company in have included Desiré in Giordano's Fedora, Baron von Campotasso in last season's wonderful new production of Offenbach's The Bandits, Sumers (Cimarosa's L'italiana in Londra - get the DVD! Oehmsclassics 2024), Vicomte de Cascada (The Merry Widow), Snout (Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream), Borsa (Rigoletto), 1st Jew (Salome), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Tom Rakewell (The Rake’s Progress), Massimo (Gluck's Ezio), The Marquis (The Gambler), Scaramuccio (Ariadne auf Naxos) and the Chevalier (Schreker's The Elusive Sound - get the CD! OehmsClassics). He also sang in Betulia liberata, Il trovatore, Billy Budd, Trojahn's Enrico, Maderna's Satyricon and the world premiere of Herrmann's Der Mieter / The Tenant (commissioned by Oper Frankfurt). This American tenor sang Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Don Ramiro (La Cenerentola) for Boston Midsummer Opera, Jupiter / Apollo (Semele) at Seattle Opera, Picasso / F. Scott Fitzgerald in the world premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon's Opera 27 (CD - Albany Records) at the Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Jaquino (Fidelio) at Shippensburg Music Festival, Mr. Porcupine in Tobias Picker's Fantastic Mr. Fox ( Grammy Award for Best Opera Recording 2020«) at Opera San Antonio and Odyssey Opera Boston and made his Canadian debut singing Fenton in Falstaff at Opera Hamilton. Concert work has taken him to the Carnegie Hall and the Stern Auditorium in New York.
