The Russian tenor Dmitry Golovnin is back at Oper Frankfurt where he made his debut in 2019 singing Sergey in this production of Shostakovich’s Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk when it first opened. He studied in his home town of St. Petersburg, where is still a member of the Michailowski Theatre, and the University for Music in Hamburg. Recent engagements have included Andrei (Mazeppa) in Berlin and Baden-Baden, Hermann (Pique Dame) and Grigori (Boris Godunov) at the Vienna State Opera, Agrippa and Mephisto (The Fiery Angel) at the Teatro Real in Madrid and Hermann in Brussels. Highlights during his career have included Shostakovich's Sergei at the Bolschoi in Moscow, the Vienna and Hamburg state operas, Alexei (The Gambler)  and Andrei at the Bolschoi, Grigori at the Opéra national de Paris and La Scala Milan and Boris (Katya Kabanova) at the Semperoper in Dresden. Other engagements in recent seasons have taken him to the Theater an der Wien (Maiden of Orleans) and the Opéra de Lyon (From the House of the Dead), Grigori at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Alexei at Theater Basel, Agrippa and Mephisto at Zurich Opera and the Opéra de Lyon, Grischka (The Invisible City of Kitezh) at the Liceu in Barcelona, the Painter (American Lulu) at the Theater an der Wien, Andrei Chowansky (Khovanschina) and King Kanduales for Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp, Golizyn (Khovanschina) at Theater Basel and Dante (Francesca da Rimini) at La Monnaie in Brussels. He also sang Alfredo at the Michailowsky Theatre, Don José at Latvian National Opera in Riga and Fürst Myschkin in an ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra concert performance of Weinberg's Idiot
