Enkelejda Shkoza's back in Frankfurt to repeat her wonderful portrayal of Solocha in this stunning production of Rimsky-Korsakov's The Night before Christmas. This mezzo-soprano has been invited to perform at many leading Italian opera houses and the Rossini Festival, and has appeared at the Opéra de Paris, the Vienna and Munich state operas, La Scala Milan, the Théâtre la Monnaie in Brussels, Covent Garden in London, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Metropolitan Opera in New York with leading conductors including Colin Davis, Riccardo Chailly, James Conlon, Antonio Pappano, Fabio Luisi, Daniele Gatti, Donato Renzetti, Marcello Viotti, Carlo Rizzi and Vladimir Jurowski. She sang recently sang Ježibaba (Rusalka) at the Palau de les Arts Valencia, returned to Covent Garden for Suzuki (Madama Butterfly) and sang Ulrica (Un ballo in maschera) at the Opéra de Marseilles. During the 2024/25 season you can hear her as Zita /Frugola in Il trittico at the Opéra National de Paris. Other engagements in recent seasons have included Frugola (Il tabarro) at the Teatro dell´Opera di Roma, Catherine (Jeanne d´Arc au bucher) at the Teatro Real de Madrid, Azucena (Il trovatore) und Geneviève (Pelléas et Mélisande) at the Teatro Regio di Parma sowie Amneris (Aida) at the Opéra National de Lorraine. Her concert repertoire ranges from Gluck to Prokofiev, and she can be heard on recordings listed by Opera Rara and LSO Live. Born in Tirana, Enkelejda Shkoza won the Leyla Gencer Singing Competition in Istanbul after studying in Milan and began her career at leading opera houses in Italy and at the Rossini Festival.
