Korean tenor Young Woo Kim is making his debut at Oper Frankfurt, singing Radamès in the first revival of this new production of Aida.  He joined the ensemble at Cologne Opera in 2018/19, where you can hear him this season singing Ismaele (Nabucco) and Don José (Carmen). Other recent roles have included Erik (Der fliegende Holländer) at Cologne Opera and the Felsenbühne in Sachsen, Radamès at Theater Bielefeld, Bacchus (Ariadne auf Naxos) at Garsington Opera Festival, Cavaradossi (Tosca) at the Hamburg and Hannover state operas, in Cologne, at the Sydney Opera House and Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne and the title role in Gounod's Faust at Cologne Opera. His repertoire includes Fenton (Falstaff), Daniel Buchanan (Kurt Weill's Street Scene), Mambre (Rossini's Mosè in Egitto), 1st Armed man (Die Zauberflöte) and Hoffegut (Die Vögel /The Birds).  He was awarded the Offenbach Prize in 2021 for outstanding artistic achievements by the Association of Friends of Cologne Opera. He also sang Siegmund (Die Walküre for Young and Old) with Cologne Opera on tour to South Korea in 2022. Young Woo Kim was a member of Cologne Opera's international Opera Studio. He studied at Chugye University for the Arts and has won many international prizes, including the Royal Irish Academy of Music's Irene Sandford Competition Award.
