Magnus Dietrich left the Staatsoper in Berlin’s International Opera Studio to join the Ensemble at Oper Frankfurt last season, during which he jumped in at short notice to sing Leukippos in our wonderful production of Daphne and sang Basilio/Don Curzio in a new production of Le nozze di Figaro, 3rd Jew in Salome, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Walther von der Vogelweide in a new Tannhäuser and Belmonte (role debut) in Die Entführung aus dem Serail. During the 2024/25 season he adds three new roles to his repertoire: Graf Hohenhollern in a new production of Henze's Prince of Homburg, Leander & the Marschallin's Major Domo in Nielsen's Masquerade & Richard Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier, and sings in Mendelssohn's Lobgesang in the final museums concerts of the season, conducted by Thomas Guggeis. He recently sang Alfred in Die Fledermaus with Marc Minkowski in Madrid and Paris and Tamino at the Semperoper in Dresden and Staatsoper in Berlin, where he recently sang roles including Leukippos (Daphne) the Steuermann (The Flying Dutchman), and Conte di Lerma (Don Carlo). Future plans include his debut at the Met in New York and appearances at the Semperoper in Dresden, the Staatsoper in Berlin, Baden Baden's Festspielhaus, the Palau de la Musica Valencia and with the Helsinki Radio Orchestra. Recent concerts have included Schumann’s Das Paradies und die Peri with the Staatskapelle Berlin, Mozart’s Requiem with the Dresden Kreuz Chor and Elijah under Kirill Petrenko with the Berlin Philharmonic. This winner of the 2022 Brixen Classics Young Artists Award and Germany's National Competition studied with KS Prof. Andreas Schmidt at the University for Music and Theatre in Munich and Hartmut Elbert. He also took part in masterclasses held by Andrew Watts, Neil Shicoff, Bo Skovhus, Piotr Beczala and Hedwig Fassbender.
