American tenor Andrew Bidlack, voted "Rising Star of 2015" by Opera News, is back at Oper Frankfurt, where he made his debut at singing Augustin Moser in our new production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, to sing Sichel in thie new production of Dittersdorf's Doctor and Pharmacist. He returned to the company after Meistersinger for a Dance Master / Lamp Lighter in Manon Lescaut, Schmidt in Werther and a Bogus Assistant and 1st Rogue in a new Kurt Weill / Carl Orff double bill and 2nd Jew in Salome. He recently sang Rob Hall in the British world premiere of Joby Talbot's Everest (in concert) with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Doctor in the world premiere of Talbot's The Diving Bell and the Butterfly at Dallas Opera. Recent highlights have included Beppe in I Pagliacci at the Metropolitan Opera, the lead role in the world premiere of Iain Bell’s In Parenthesis at Welsh National Opera, with performances at Covent Garden, and Sprinck in Kevin Put’s nobel prize winning composition Silent Night at Arizona Opera. This former San Francisco Opera Adler Fellow has sung Tony in West Side Story at Atlanta Opera, the Lyric Opera of Kansas City and with the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra in Latvia before the role of Lyonnel in Chausson’s Le Roi Arthus took him to the Bard Summerscape Festival and, last summer, the Tirol Festival in Erl. His repertoire is broad and varied, including roles by Rossini, Mozart, belcanto and contemporary music, including Irving Tashman (Morning Star) with Cincinnati Opera and Rob Hall (Everest) at Dallas Opera. He also enjoys a busy concert career. Most recent appearances have included Haydn's Creation with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra, Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio in the Carnegie Hall. His discography includes The Saint of Bleecker Street on Chandos and will be followed by a recording of a concert with the BBC Philharmonic in the Barbican in 2023.
