The American baritone Jarrett Porter left the Opera Studio to join the Ensemble at Oper Frankfurt this season, during which you can hear him as a Sergeant, Ormonte & the Marquis de Corcy in new productions of Henze's Prince of Homburg, Handel's Partenope & Adolphe Adam's Le Postillon de Lonjumeau. Last season roles included 4th Shepherd (Daphne), Borow (Fedora) and the Speaker (Die Zauberflöte) and Barbavano and Curio in new productions of Offenbach's The Bandits and Handel's Giulio Cesare in Egitto. He joined Frankfurt's studio in the 2022/23 season, during which he sang roles for the first time including the Major-Domo (Strauss’ Capriccio), Leone in (Tamerlano), Masetto in Christof Loy's beautiful production of Don Giovanni, and Elviro (Xerxes), and, in new productions: Edgar, the Older Son / Herald-Courtier & Duke Hoël in the world premiere of Vito Žuraj’s Blühen / Blossoming, a new Benjamin Britten The Prodigal Son / The Burning Fiery Furnace double bill & Frank Martin’s Le vin herbè. Guest engagements have included Valentin in Gounod's Faust for the Berkshire Opera Festival in Great Barrington (USA) and he returned to the Opera Theatre in Saint Louis in 2022 for Oliver Sacks in the world premiere of Tobias Picker’s Awakenings. He made his professional debut singing Guglielmo in Così fan tutte at Arizona Opera. He was Artist in Residence at Marlboro Music and graduated from the Marion Roose Pullin Arizona Opera Studio, Santa Fe's Apprentice Program, the Glimmerglass Festival and Opera Saratoga and the International Meistersinger Academy (IMA) in Neumarkt, where he appeared with the Nürnberg Symphony Orchestra. This award winning singer trained at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Juillard School in New York.
