Karolina Bengtsson joined Oper Frankfurt's Ensemble last season, during which she jumped in at short notice to sing Barbarina in the new Le nozze di Figaro and enjoyed great success with Silvia, Belisa & a Young Shepherd in new productions of Mozart's Ascanio in Alba, Wolfgang Fortner's Don Perlimplím's love for Belisa in his Garden and Wagner's Tannhäuser, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte and 1st Maid in our unforgettable production of Strauss' Daphne. During the 2024/25 season she adds two new roles to her repertoire: Aljeja and a Lady-in-waiting in From the House of the Dead and a new production of Macbeth, and sings Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro. During her time in our Opera Studio, which she joined in 2021/22, roles included Clotilde (Norma), Frasquita (Carmen), Second Woman (Dido and Aeneas), 2nd Maid (new production of Luigi Dallapiccola's Ulisse) and Suor Osmina (Suor Angelica), Pamina & Papagena and Isaura in new productions of Die Zauberflöte and Mercadante's Francesca da Rimini, Kate Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and  a Cock / Jay in The Cunning Little Vixen.  She studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen before going to the Mozarteum in Salzburg, where teachers included Barbara Bonney, who guided her through her masters degree, and where she sang her first Pamina in Die Zauberflöte. Roles at the Royal Danish Academy of Music included 1st Lady Draft in Vestergård's Titanic, Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) and Alter ego with Troubadours21 in Abstract Love and Mathilde in The Danish Benefit For The Refugees Show. She appeared with the violinist Malin Broman and the Musica Vitae Chamber Orchestra in the world premiere of Death and Juliet. Karolina Bengtsson reached the finals of the 2021 Anny Schlemm Competition, won a prize at the 3rd International Haydn Competition for Classic Lieder and Arias in 2018 in Rohrau, won the 2020 Singing Competition in Weikersheim and a prize at the Schloss (castle) Rheinsberg competition.
