The British-Irish baritone Simon Neal appears regularly at theatres around the world. Now he's back at Oper Frankfurt, where roles have included Nekrotzar in last season's new production of Ligeti's Le Grand Macabre, the Forester (Cunning Little Vixen), Kurwenal (Tristan und Isolde), Achilles (Schoeck's Penthesilea), Sebastiano (Tiefland), Scarpia (Tosca) and the title role in Enescu's Oedipe, to sing Dr. Schön in this new production of Berg's Lulu.  He enjoyed great success singing his first Wotans in Der Ring des Nibelungen at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf in 2017, where other roles included Rigoletto, the four villains in The Tales of Hoffmann, Jago (Otello) and Mandryka (Arabella).  You can hear him later this season as Wotan in Siegfried at Oper Leipzig and Don Pizarro in Fidelio at Zurich Opera. Recent engagements have included Don Pizarro (Fidelio) at Covent Garden and the Hamburg State Opera, Cardillac at Opera Vlaanderen, Wagner's Dutchman at the Opéra de Lyon, Jack Rance (La fanciulla del West) and Dr. Schön (Lulu) at Oper Leipzig and Telramund (Lohengrin) at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Staatsoper in Stuttgart. Other theatres where Simon Neal has appeared have included the Semperoper in Dresden, English National Opera, Opera Australia and in concerts with the RTE Symphony Orchestra Dublin, the Barcelona and Taiwan symphony orchestras. Simon Neal built up a substantial repertoire while a member of Theater Dortmund's ensemble from 2006 - 2011.
