Robert Jindra

Robert Jindra is working at Oper Frankfurt for the first time, conducting this revival of Janáček’s From the House of the Dead. He was born in Prague, where he studied singing and conducting at the Conservatoire, and took up the post of Music Director of the National Theatre in September 2022. Other engagements have taken him to places including the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich (Rusalka, The Cunning Little Vixen, Il Trittico), Oper Graz, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Norwegian Opera in Oslo (Ariadne auf Naxos, Jenůfa) and the Slovenian National Theatre in Bratislava (La Juive, The Bartered Bride and La traviata). He has worked with many orchestras, including the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonic and Symphony orchestras, the Slovakian Philharmonie and Košice State Philharmonic. He was 1st Kapellmeister of the Aalto Musiktheater and Philharmonie in Essen from 2018/19 – 2020/21. Robert Jindra is also Chief Conductor of Czech Radio’s Symphony Orchestra. Plans this season include his debuts at the Staatsoper in Berlin (Janáček’s Makropoulos Case) and Semperoper in Dresden (Roméo et Juliette) and he returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper in the run up to Christmas for Hänsel und Gretel.
