Valentin Uryupin's back at Oper Frankfurt where he enjoyed great success in 2021/22 with the Stravinsky / Tchaikovsky Oedipus Rex / Iolanta double bill, for the first revival of Tchaikovsky’s rarity, The Sorceress, which he conducted when it first opened in 2022. This internationally celebrated artist's recent engagements have included concerts with the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra in Vienna, the Berlin Radio Sinfonieorchester and at the Teatro Regio Torino, where he returns for a new production of Tchaikovsky's Pique Dame in April 2025. He returned recently to the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, where he made his debut, jumping in at short notice, in early 2024 . Other important debuts this season include the Chamber Orchestra of Europe in Antwerp and Ghent, the Staatsoper in Berlin (Carmen) and the Bayerische Staatsoper (Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and Schönberg's Erwartung). Valentin Uryupin was named Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the New Opera in Moscow in 2021, where he conducted, amongst others, Korngold's The Dead City and Massenet's Cendrillon before resigning from both posts. He led new productions at the Stuttgart State Opera (The Love for Three Oranges) and Bregenz Festival (Eugene Onegin and Siberia) and was a popular guest at the Tirol Festival in Erl. Under his guidance, as artistic director from 2015 - 2021, the Rostov Symphony Orchestra advanced to one of the best orchestras in Russia. They had their own series of concerts at the Philharmonie in Moscow and were invited to perform at the Brucknerhaus in Linz. He also worked closely with Perm Opera's orchestra MusicAeterna for many years. This winner of the 8th International Sir Georg Solti Conducting Competition in 2017 won prizes at more than 20 international competitions as a clarinettist, and appeared worldwide in concert.
