Michaela Barth designed the costumes for this production of Janáček's From A House for the Dead, and a new production of Eötvös' Tri Sestry / Three Sisters. She regularly designs costumes for productions directed by Michael Thalheimer, most recently his Tristan und Isolde and Parsifal at the Grand Théâtre du Genève and Eugene Onegin at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. They have also staged plays at houses including Hamburg's Thalia Theater, the Deutsche Theater Berlin, Residenztheater in Munich, Schauspielhaus in Hamburg and Schaubühne in Berlin. She worked with Katharina Wagner on her production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the 2007 Bayreuth Festival and with Christof Loy on his productions of Les Troyens and a Monteverdi cycle at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein. She has also designed costumes for directors including Hans Neuenfels, Enrico Lübbe, Holk Freytag, Karoline Gruber and Andreas Veiel. She was born in Munich and started training at the University for the Arts in Berlin, embarking on her career as a designer at the Obdachlosentheater (homeless people's theater) »Ratten 07« in Berlin and performances at the JVY Tegel's »Aufbruch« a prisoner's theatre.
